About this project
A short explanation.
Please read this if you arrived here looking for the active Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh — or if you're curious about what this domain actually holds.
An unaffiliated archival tribute.
This website is operated by a private individual as a personal documentary project. It is not the website of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, the United Jewish Federation, or any related institution. No claim of affiliation is made or implied.
For the active federation — programs, leadership, the Annual Community Campaign, contact information, public statements — please visit jewishpgh.org.
Questions
A few things worth saying plainly.
Is this the official site of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh?
No. This site is a personal, independent archival tribute. The active federation is a separate, currently operating nonprofit — its official site is jewishpgh.org. Nothing on this domain is endorsed by, affiliated with, or representative of that organization.
Then what is this?
A small archival project. The domain ujfpittsburgh.org was the public web home of the United Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh from roughly 2001 through the late 2000s. Today, that name has been retired in a community-wide rebrand, and the domain itself had lapsed. This site preserves a brief, respectful snapshot of what was once here, drawn from earlier captures of the original site.
Why publish it?
Because civic websites of the early 2000s — the ones organizations actually used to communicate with their members — are vanishing. A static tribute page is a way to mark the URL, point to the present-day organization, and preserve a few period artifacts in a form that's easy to find.
Where can I find the current organization?
The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh continues its work at jewishpgh.org. For events, donations, leadership and contact information in 2026, please go there directly — not here.
Where can I learn the actual history?
The Rauh Jewish Archives at the Heinz History Center holds the canonical historical record of Pittsburgh's Jewish institutions, including board minutes, photographs and oral histories.
Are any logos or trademarks used here?
No. The federation's wordmark and seal are not reproduced on this site. A handful of period sidebar banners and promotional graphics — none of which include the organization's primary trademark — are shown for documentary illustration only.
