What are we working on now?
Green Bar/Bat Mitzvah Online Guide
Are you planning a Bar or Bat Mitzvah and want to do it in an environmentally friendly way? The UJF Environmental Committee is hard at work, researching green ways to plan Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebrations, and gathering case studies for our online guide. Have you or are you about to plan an event with an eye toward the environment? We'd love to hear about it, and possibly use it in our guide. To have someone contact you about your green event ideas, contact Chava Lilove at 412-992-5214 or clilove@jfpittsburgh.org.
Energy Audits
The Environmental Committee has initiated a coordinated energy audit program aimed at energy and cost savings for religious institutions. Temple Emanuel of the South Hills and Beth Shalom Congregation in Squirrel Hill conducted their energy audits in late February and are already reaping the rewards. For more information on how your organization can participate in our energy audit initiative, contact Chava Lilove at 412-992-5214 or clilove@ujfpittsburgh.org.
Past Events
Dr. Devra Davis, director of the Center for Environmental Oncology of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and a founding member of the UJF Environmental Committee, lectured before an overflow crowd about her highly acclaimed book, The Secret War on Cancer, on March 26, 2008. The event was sponsored by the UJF Environmental Committee. For more information, and to order a copy of Dr. Davis's book, click here.
